Going Green with my local bank just made sense. I am online all the time so why not do all my banking online and skip the huge envelop that tells me where my hard earned cash flow was distributed? For one I already know I have no money and secondly why do I want a copy of a check made out to my mortgage lender. It was painful enough seeing it the first time.
Greensense with Citizens just made sense (no pun intended). In total we have six greensense accounts in our house, three checking and three savings. Anytime I need info I just go online and every time I need to purchase something with one of our checking accounts they give me 10 cents. It does not matter if it is directly taken out, paid online, or using our debit cards, whenever, however they give us 10 cents, WOW free money. May not seem like a lot but it adds up. To a possible total of $360 with all of our accounts, can we say Weekend getaway?
They even send you a pretty new debit card made from recycled materials. I think it would have been more eco friendly to just let us use the card I already had but it wasn’t my choice. They also do not send you new checks which to some may be a bother but to us who pay it all online was fine. We ordered a few just for emergencies but haven’t come close to putting a dent in them. It is fun to log in the account and see the possible $10 a month in my account as a friendly thank you from citizens. I wish it came in a lump sum at the end of the year but oh well. Hopefully more banks will reward their customers with being Green, I know we appreciate it!
